“If you truly expect to realize your dreams, abandon the need for blanket approval. If conforming to everyone’s expectations is the number one goal, you have sacrificed your uniqueness, and therefore your excellence.” - Hope Solo
CONSURFVATION
Thanks to Goldfish Kiss, I recently received some Consurfvation swag. I was totally oblivious to the label before but have completely fallen in love with it now. Created by a graphic designer, who’s a lover of the sea and produces the softest beach T’s around… whats not to love?! Not to mention it’s a socially responsible company that gives back. Since the Ocean is my biggest obsession in life I find it very fitting to ‘wear the cause.’ Pick up a shirt! You seriously will end up living in it! www.consurfvation.com
obsession for days. the sea.

COME HELL OR HIGH WATER
“Keith Malloy’s debut film, Come Hell or High Water, shot primarily on 16mm focuses on the simplicity and beauty of bodysurfing. Keith explores the history and progression of the sport through its many unique characters. It’s about taking a breath, and kicking your feet, in the big blue sea.”

“I’ve been here so long
Think that it’s time to move
The winter’s so cold
Summer’s over too soon
Let’s pack our bags and
Settle down where palm trees grow
I’ve got some friends
Some that I hardly know
We’ve had some times
I wouldn’t trade for the world
We chase these days down with talks
Of the places that we will go”

DARK SIDE OF THE LENS // ASTRAY FILMS
This is probably one of the most inspiring short films ever. Whether your a surfer, photographer, lover of the sea or just a creative you’ve gotta watch this! The commentary is amazing and the shots speak for themselves. I always take a few minutes to watch this when I feel like I need some inspiration but don’t have the time to go on vacation. Enjoy and remember to follow your passion! #passionoverprofit
Filmmaker Chris McClean has just released this short surf film, Snoozer. It features Gabe Davis and is an ode to the fickle and frigid breaks of the North Sea.
It has been entered into London Surf Film Festival’s The Shorties film contest, so keep an eye out for it. The London Surf Film Festival will be hosting screenings, talks and workshops to the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, London from October 11-14, 2012.
Beyond the Blue - Josh Garrels
I’m not one to post ‘lyrics’ to a song but when the artist writes something this rich I simply must. Mr. Garrels you are a gem!
Stand on the shores of a site unseen
The substance of this dwells in me
Cause my natural eyes only go skin deep
But the eye’s of my heart anchor the sea
Plumbing the depths to the place in between
The tangible world and the land of a dreams
Because everything ain’t quite it seems
There’s more beneath the appearance of things
A beggar could be king within the shadows,
Of a wing
And wisdom will honor everyone who will learn
To listen, to love, and to pray and discern
And to do the right thing even when it burns
And to live in the light through treacherous turns
A man is weak, but the spirit yearns
To keep on course from the bow to the stearn
And throw overboard every selfish concern
That tries to work for what can’t be earned
Sometimes the only way to return is to go,
Where the winds will take you
And to let go, of all, you cannot hold onto
For the hope, beyond,the blue
Yellow and gold as the new day dawns
Like a virgin unveiled who waited so long
To dance and rejoice and sing her song
And rest in the arms of a love so strong
No one comes unless they’re drawn
By the voice of desire that leads em’ along
To the redemption of what went wrong
By the blood that coveres the innocent one
No more separation
Between us.
So lift your voice just one more time
If there’s any hope may it be a sign
That everything was made to shine
Despite what you can see
So take this bread and drink this wine
And hide your spirit within the vine
Where all things will work by a good design
For those who will believe
And let go, of all, we cannot hold onto
For the hope, beyond, the blue
Said I let go, of all, I could not hold onto
For the hope, I have, in you
